Welcome!
Searching for a job can be quite exhausting.
First step is the search for the “perfect” job; this could take a whole
weekend just scanning the job adverts.
Second step is putting together the application; even with some help from
experts like us, there’s some things you have to do yourself!
Third step is sending off the application; if it’s via email, it’s
important time is taken to ensure your application doesn’t appear as if it is
hastily sent.
Fourth step is eagerly waiting for a reply; when it comes you’re either a)
utterly disappointed at the rejection or b) absolutely elated. Both
emotions drain the batteries!
Fifth step is the interview itself; it’s important time is spent beforehand
in preparation for the big day, and then you have to go through the
nerve-wracking ordeal.
Phew! No wonder some people give up or don’t want to put themselves
through all that torture. But this process is a necessity in order to
reach your life and work goals. Rewards are eventually granted, and you
can spread your wings and soar.
I liken it to this month’s article about the Butterfly, where it’s clear
message is “Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life.”

ARTICLE:
The Butterfly
by Author Unknown
=================================
A man found a cocoon for a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared,
he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its
body through the little hole.
Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had
gotten as far as it could and could go no farther. Then the man decided to
help the butterfly.
He took a pair of scissors and snipped the remaining bit of the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerged easily.
Something was strange. The butterfly had a swollen body and shrivelled
wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected at any
moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which
would contract in time.
Neither happened. In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life
crawling around with a swollen body and deformed wings. It was never able
to fly.
What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the
restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through
the small opening of the cocoon are God's way of forcing fluid from the body of
the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it
achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life.
If God allowed us to go through all our life without any obstacles, that would
cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been.
Not only that, we could never fly.

WRITING YOUR RÉSUMÉ - PART 14 – KEY HIGHLIGHTS
Each month we'll be providing specific tips on what information you could be
including in your résumé.
*************************************
Never lose sight of the fact that your résumé is a marketing document.
Different professions will require a different approach; however, the same
simple ingredient remains the same irrespective of your calling in life.
If you are in sales (or something similar), there are numerous possibilities
you could be exploring to ensure your résumé stands out from the crowd.
You’re luckier than most as it’s generally accepted that you can exercise a
little more creativity in marketing your potential – after all, if you can
sell yourself well you can sell the company’s products and / or services!
A section titled Key Highlights is perfect for this situation. This is
where you can let your sales skills and business acumen shine! It should
be punchy (i.e. one to two lines per statement; not a whole paragraph) and
demonstrate quantifiable information which grabs the hiring manager’s
attention. However, these should still be listed as key achievements under
the position it relates to.
Key Highlights is reserved as an “attention grabber” – it’s purpose
is not to expand on your entire career achievements.
Once again, it is imperative that this section be tailored for each
respective position you are applying for.
